A unique event is being held in East Falls. Celebrating life along the Schuylkill River, everyone is invited to dance under the moonlight at the First Annual Dance on the Falls Bridge on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 8pm – Midnight.
Featuring live music, a champagne toast, catered desserts, wine, and group dance lessons, East Falls is rolling out the red carpet to welcome folks near and far to party on the neighborhood’s landmark gateway, the Falls Bridge.
“This will be the signature event to celebrate the wealth of diversity, resources and opportunities in East Falls”, enthuses Honorary Co-Chairwoman Rev. Dr. Lorena Marshall-Blake, VP Community Affairs for IBX and a member of the East Falls Development Corporation Board. “Hosting a dance on the Falls Bridge is like having the most amazing block party in the City – and everyone’s invited!”
Keeping an eye to the River that has long defined and nourished the vibrancy of the neighborhood, the Dance on the Bridge organizing committee has chosen the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education as the fundraising focus for the night. Attendees will have a wide assortment of enticing items to bid upon in support of the Center’s educational programming for children. Located upstream from East Falls in Roxborough, the Center was one of the first urban environmental education centers in the country when it was founded in 1965. Event Honorary Co-chair Mike Weilbacher, Executive Director, Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, “The Schuylkill Center is thrilled to be the beneficiary of the event’s silent auction. Everyone here is so excited to be able to party atop the bridge over the river—what a novel way to celebrate our community, by dancing on top of our most important resource, the thread that binds our community together: the river.”
The event organizing committee is comprised of an eclectic group of neighborhood businesses, residents and institutions dedicated to East Falls and to ensuring the party is not just good fun, but a good deal. All-inclusive tickets are priced to encourage people to buy their tickets early and in groups. Join with friends, neighbors and coworkers and buy a pack of ten tickets for just $25 each. For those who wish to make it a special night for a smaller set, tickets are just $30 each before August 30th and $35 at the event.
With a warm evening breeze and the moonlight skipping across the River below, live entertainment, new dance moves to learn, and delectable food, the Dance on the Bridge in East Falls will be a night to remember.
