The Schuylkill Project asks volunteers “How can we be of assistance?”

The Schuylkill Project has been focusing on stewardship of volunteers lately; as part of a series of gatherings to assist volunteers, a meeting is scheduled for February that will focus on East Falls efforts. How can the work of volunteers in greening the waterfront best be supported by the Schuylkill Project? Some of the ways the Project is seeking to help include fundraising, connecting groups to city resources, and providing tools or supplies for workdays. The volunteer get-together will be at Murphy’s Irish Saloon at 3333 Conrad Street in East Falls on Thursday, February 10 starting at 7pm. Anyone who is interested in greening, whether you are a current volunteer or would like to be, is welcome. RSVP’s are needed, however: please contact ascott@manayunk.org to let us know you’re coming.
On a related note, the first Schuylkill Project fundraiser of the year will be held on February 5. Entitled Hang out to Help Out, the event will take place at Bourbon Blue (2 Rector Street) in Manayunk from 6:30 to 9:30 pm and feature live music, drink specials and complimentary appetizers and a live art auction. Proceeds from the $20 suggested donation will be used to assist participating groups in community greening and recreational activities through a newly launched mini-grant program. The program will help with costs such as the repair and replacement of tools, and help find resources for the purchase of plant materials and other materials needed for clean-ups.
The Schuylkill Project celebrates life along the River and seeks to connect our communities to the river through planning, programming and project. Visit www.destinationschuylkillriver.org to learn more.
