Get Stuck on Waffles

from thefallser.com
Help decorate East Falls’ new five-foot Catfish, “Waffles,” during the Arts by the River & Eco-Fair on Saturday, October 2nd.
Waffles” wants to be a “Fallser,” so he hopes folks will bring photos/sketches or drawings that reflect life in East Falls to cover his stone-cold frame. Waffles will be ready for preening at Arts by the River on October 2nd between 10am and 5pm in the 4200 block of Ridge Ave. (between Midvale Ave. and the Falls Bridge).
Bring something about yourself (family, home) on 3”x3” paper (thin paper, not cardboard) to be adhered to Waffles.
By the way, why has East Falls’ newest “resident” been named “Waffles”?
In the 19th Century, when the community was known as “Falls of Schuylkill,” catfish were plentiful and the community a popular destination. City folk came by boat, horseback or carriage to dine on a local specialty, Catfish & Waffles. Ergo…Waffles is his name…
This will be the first of several Eco-friendly "fish" themed art works installed in the East Falls Riverfront Business District. Meet Waffles and get more details at eastfalls-pa.com .
